Whale Watching Tour Preparation

Whale watching tours from $59Are you considering a whale watching tour as an upcoming activity at home or on your next vacation? If you are then you have come to the right place! There is no question that whale watching is among the few activities on earth that can make an impact on your life. Somehow everyday life seems very unrealistic and petty when you are faced with the surreal wonder of an Orca or Gray Whale surfacing next to your boat.

Very few places on earth provide better scenery and opportunities to view whales than the Juan de Fuca Strait located off of the South end of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. With three resident killer whale pods often located only 30 minutes to an hour away from the capital of British Columbia, Victoria provides an unbelievably convenient location for whale watching tours.

Prince of Whales Whale Watching is the largest and safest whale watching tour company in Victoria, BC. Our fleet of Coast Guard approved inflatables are designed for your comfort and safety.

What to Expect

All of our tours are 3 hours long to provide the maximum experience for your investment. Our tours run from late April to late September or early October. When you are preparing for a tour with us you should understand that because we live on the rugged West Coast there is a very real chance of rain and or sea spray. Prepare for this by not bringing anything that you cannot quickly protect from the elements.

Our Vessels
Prince of Whales has two types of boats available for your wildlife tour:

Pod of killer whales come to visit. Mt. Baker is in the background.Rigid-Hull Inflatable
The most common and exciting boat is the rigid-hull inflatable of which will provide the ultimate West Coast adventure experience. Each inflatable can accommodate up to 12 passengers and is piloted by a seasoned skipper with marine naturalist qualifications. The skipper will guide you on a tour of the many idyllic coast islands and show you a great sampling of the local wildlife.

Note: If you request an inflatable with a toilet you should know that the facilities are open-air and not necessarily the most private. We recommend them only for emergencies. If you have any special requirements or medical conditions then we recommend that you consider the Cabin Cruisers.

Cabin Cruisers
The next style of craft is our specially designed Cabin Cruiser which is deal for young families and seniors. This vessel will shelter you from the elements and has readily accessible toilets. Unlike the inflatable boats, the Cruiser has two staff members, each with a different role. The first is a seasoned skipper that will be focused on spotting whales and ensuring a wildlife-filled journey. The second, is your own naturalist who will be narrating throughout the trip and answering your questions.
